Coldplay reduces carbon emissions

The rock band Coldplay has successfully cut their carbon emissions by almost half compared to their previous tours, thanks to their environmentally conscious world tour, Music Of The Spheres. The series of performances by the band began in March last year in South America, and last summer they toured the United States and the United Kingdom. The tour data was analyzed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as reported by NME.

The numbers reveal that during the Music Of The Spheres tour, the band generated 47% fewer carbon emissions than during their tours in 2016 and 2017. Following those concerts, Coldplay stated that they would not embark on new tours unless they could make their performances more eco-friendly.

"This is a good start, and our incredible team should be very proud. But it's evident that more can be done," commented the band. "Now, as we're in the second year of the tour, we have coordinated all our shows (audio, lighting, lasers, etc.) using an electric battery system that enables us to maximize the use of 100% renewable energy. We utilize electric vehicles and alternative fuels wherever possible and minimize waste and plastic usage."

Earlier, Coldplay announced plans to embark on a tour in Asia and Australia later this year.
